General

About Optum Vitality.

The big-picture questions — what we do, who we serve, where we're located.

What is Optum Vitality?+
Optum Vitality is a physician-led wellness practice in Winter Haven, Florida, founded by Dr. Maria Martino, a board-certified OB/GYN with 25+ years of experience. The practice offers hormone health, BHRT, aesthetics, longevity, and personalized wellness consultations — all under one roof, all with Dr. Martino guiding care.
Who do you treat?+
We care for both men and women. The practice has a particular focus on midlife hormone optimization, but patients of all ages come for aesthetics, longevity, and wellness consultation needs.
Where are you located?+
213 Ave D SW, Winter Haven, FL 33880. Patients are seen Monday through Thursday 9am to 5pm and Friday 9am to 2pm.
Do you offer telehealth?+
Optum Vitality is primarily an in-office practice. Some follow-up visits may be available virtually depending on the care path and clinical appropriateness. The initial consultation is typically conducted in person.
How do I get started?+
Book a consultation through this site, call (863) 268-4826, or email info@optumvitality.com. The team will respond within one business day to confirm your visit and send a brief intake form.
Consultation

How the consultation works.

What to expect from your first visit — start to finish.

Do I need a consultation first?+
Yes. Every care path begins with a consultation. The visit is designed to clarify your goals, review your symptoms and history, and outline the next clinically appropriate step. Treatment recommendations are personalized — never templated.
How long is a consultation?+
45 minutes. Long enough to listen carefully, review your history, discuss your options, and end with a clear written next-step plan.
What should I bring?+

Bring any recent labs, a list of current medications and supplements, and a brief written note of your top 3 goals or concerns. The intake form sent before your visit will guide you on the rest.

Will I get a treatment recommendation at my first visit?+
Most consultations end with a clear recommendation — but not always a same-day treatment. If labs are needed first, we'll order them and schedule a follow-up. The goal is to make the right decision, not the fast decision.
What happens after the consultation?+
You leave with a written next-step plan. If treatment is appropriate, it can often begin same-day or within one week. Follow-up is built in, with the cadence determined by the care path.
Hormone & BHRT

Hormone health & BHRT pellet therapy.

The most common questions about hormone evaluation and bioidentical pellet therapy.

What is BHRT?+
Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy uses hormones that are molecularly identical to those your body produces. At Optum Vitality, when clinically appropriate, BHRT is delivered primarily through pellet therapy — small, plant-derived pellets placed under the skin during a brief in-office visit. Each pellet releases a steady dose of hormones over 3 to 5 months.
Is BHRT right for everyone?+
No. BHRT is one option of many and is only recommended when symptoms, labs, and history support it. Some patients benefit more from longevity planning, lifestyle support, or aesthetic care. The consultation is what determines fit.
How long does a hormone pellet last?+
Most patients re-pellet every 3 to 4 months for women and every 5 to 6 months for men. Dr. Martino tracks symptoms and labs to dial in your individual cadence.
Is hormone therapy safe?+
Hormone therapy carries benefits and risks that vary by individual. Optum Vitality reviews your full medical history, current symptoms, and labs before recommending any hormone protocol. Risks and alternatives are always discussed before treatment begins.
What does the pellet insertion feel like?+
The procedure is brief — typically 15 minutes — and performed under local anesthetic. Most patients describe mild pressure rather than pain. After-care instructions are provided to support healing.
When will I feel a difference after starting BHRT?+
Many patients notice changes — sleep, energy, mood, libido — within 2 to 6 weeks. Full optimization is typically reached over 1 to 3 cycles as your individual cadence is dialed in.
Aesthetics

Aesthetic services.

About the services we offer and what realistic results look like.

What aesthetic services do you offer?+
Common aesthetic services include laser hair removal, microneedling, skin restoration, aesthetic injectables, body contouring options, and skincare guidance. The exact service menu and any new modalities are reviewed during your consultation.
Are aesthetic results immediate?+
Some services show results immediately (such as injectables). Others build over weeks (laser, microneedling, skin restoration). Realistic timelines are discussed before any treatment is scheduled.
Is laser hair removal safe for all skin types?+
Yes. We use a multi-wavelength platform safe and effective for skin types I through VI. Every laser appointment begins with a complimentary skin assessment to set expectations and treatment plan.
How many laser sessions will I need?+
Most patients require 6 to 8 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart for substantial reduction. Maintenance sessions may be recommended over time.
Do you offer aggressive transformation packages?+
No. Our approach is refinement, not transformation. We focus on natural-looking results that complement who you are. If a service isn't a fit for your goals, we'll say so directly.
Longevity

Longevity & vitality planning.

How proactive wellness planning works at Optum Vitality.

What is included in longevity care?+
Longevity care typically includes a comprehensive health goals review, personalized wellness strategy across nutrition, movement, sleep and stress, discussion of evidence-informed longevity tools, and ongoing follow-up. It can be combined with hormone or aesthetic care paths when appropriate.
Do I need to be sick to start longevity care?+
No. Longevity care is preventive and proactive by design. Most patients start when they feel "fine but not great" and want to optimize the next decade rather than treat a current illness.
Is this just a supplement program?+
No. Supplements may be part of a recommendation when supported by your labs and history, but the longevity path is built around lifestyle, sleep, movement, metabolic health, and preventive screening — not handing you a stack of pills.
How is progress measured?+
Through a combination of how you feel, periodic lab work, and tracking the specific outcomes you and Dr. Martino set together at the start. The plan adjusts as the data comes in.
Billing & Logistics

Payment, insurance, and policies.

The practical details — billing, scheduling, cancellations.

Do you accept insurance?+
Optum Vitality operates as a direct-pay practice. Most services are HSA and FSA eligible. Itemized superbills are available on request for out-of-network reimbursement consideration.
What forms of payment do you accept?+
Major credit and debit cards, HSA and FSA cards. Payment plans may be available for select treatment packages.
What is your cancellation policy?+
We ask for at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule a consultation so the time can be offered to another patient. Specific service cancellation policies are reviewed before treatment is scheduled.
Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?+
Standard hours are Monday through Thursday 9am to 5pm and Friday 9am to 2pm. Special scheduling requests can be discussed during booking.
How do I reach you with a question outside of an appointment?+
